I’ve always thought that working on Xpanded TV is really quite a high energy job and I’ve always been curious. Constantly moving around and constantly bouncing around, twerking all night long! I like to call it ‘air banging’ sometimes and of course you’ve heard that sex does indeed burn calories, – I’ve heard it referred to as sexercise.
Well I got a Fitbit and had recently started working out at the gym again, so I thought why not monitor my heart rate etc on the Fitbit while I was at work. This had some really surprising results! As the screengrabs show, I had it on from 10pm till about 5 which is when the most movement occurs, it monitors the heart rate so it can tell when your in a fat burning zone etc. and it works out the calories and stuff for you as well as you can see. The sessions labelled weights for more than 300 minutes are work night shifts on Xpanded TV. There’s no option to record it as anything else so weights is the most appropriate.
I never knew I was quite burning this much during a night shift. 1200-1500 calories during a shift which is basically a whole day’s food intake for the average woman. Some nights I do move around more than others which reflects in the stats, also some nights I forgot to turn it on until 11pm instead of 10. And I’m sure a lot of people will say “well those things aren’t accurate” and whilst that is true, I think it is still a decent guide line for how much your doing, not to mention actually quite a good motivation tool, for both training and at work. I love the way that I am killing to birds with one stone (possibly the most important birds) keeping myself healthy and earning a living. Perfect! And I have to look good to do the job so it’s a win win. I love things that are efficient as well that really turns me on in a good way.
I don’t know if there are many jobs out there where you can really burn that much in a days/nights work! I mean, I need not go to the gym. I also found it interesting looking at the difference between my sessions at the gym and simply a night at work. Nothing compares to the night shifts.
I’ve heard a lot of people say, “Oh you just sit there and shake a phone and your tits to make money.” Well sorry it’s not that simple at all! A lot of movement clearly goes into this, not to mention the amount of thought that also goes into the content of the conversation I’m having and the descriptions. We really are trying to make it come alive for the caller when we’re on the phones, so we’re not stupid as many people think either. But I digress, that’s for another piece!
In the meantime it’s enough to say that the Fitbit don’t lie! We’re working our asses off (literally).
