In the UK there are two medications that can be used for erectile dysfunction that can be bought in all major pharmacies. One is of course Viagra, the other, is Viagra’s little known cousin that goes by the name Cialis. So what is Cialis and how does it differ from Viagra?

How does it work?

Like the other pills used to treat erectile dysfunction (Viagra, Sildenafil) Cialis contains PDE5-inhibitor which in the case of Cialis is called Tadalafil.

PDE5 is the chemical that essentially prevents an erection from happening and staying around as it controls blood vessels.

When you take Cialis the Tadafinil begins to kick in within 30 minutes.banana

How is it different from Viagra?

Cialis is often referred to as “the weekend pill” because unlike Viagra its effects last for 36 hours. This doesn’t of course mean that you’ll be walking around with an erection for the weekend, it simply means that you will get a lasting erection during that period. Viagra on the other hand wears off after 4 hours.

In many ways Cialis allows you to just relax and not think about it say if you’re having a romantic getaway or are visiting a special person over the weekend or are out partying.

It means you pop it in on a Friday and don’t have to think about it again.

How common is it to use Cialis?

According to one of the most extensive studies ever carried out into ED, the Florey Adelaide Male Aging Study, 91% of men suffer from some form of ED at some stage in their life whilst 37% are reported as having chronic ED. That’s a lot of people essentially.

Whilst Viagra remains the biggest name on the market Cialis remains one of the most commonly used and most popular due to its ability to free you from having to plan ahead.

It’s only available on prescription, so if you feel you are having erectile dysfunction issues book an appointment with your doctor.
