There is a little bit of a voyeur in all of us or perhaps quite a lot of a voyeur in all of us considering the business we’re involved in!
Voyeurism is the act of taking pleasure in watching something without participating in it, often something you shouldn’t be watching, and of course in most cases that certain something is sex.
In a study carried out by the Archives of Sexual Behaviour it turned out that some 64% of men had some form of recurring fantasy involving watching others undress. Whilst obviously in this case we’re advocating and talking about consensual voyeurism, the fantasy side of things is an important way of understanding why it’s such a turn on.
In part it’s the idea of what is prohibited but another part of it is the feelings of powerlessness or power that the act of watching gives the viewer as an article in Psychology Today points out.
We can feel powerless and hopeless watching someone have sex with someone else or we can feel like it puts us in a position of authority of willing audience member getting a private show. This in particular plays out when it’s a pre-existing partner
Cuckolding and threeways
Voyeurism when played out among a couple has the potential to really turn up the heat on their sexual relationship.
‘Cuckolding’ which is a big sex trend and according to some, one of the main trends of 2019 according a recent study. Cuckolding – as porn viewers or Xpanded customers will know – is when the man in the a couple enjoys watching his partner have sex with another man, or get ‘cuckolded’ the old-timey word for cheated-on.
Speaking to the The Mirror one man who enjoys cuckolding explained that what he liked most was the feeling of ‘helplessness.’ “I guess that’s the turn-on, watching my girlfriend being taken by another man in front of me. I’m very dominant when we’re alone, but when another man joins us, I’m the cuck.”
Letting go of feelings of possessiveness can be not just a welcome release, but actually a pleasurable turn on!
But for women too watching their significant other have sex with someone else – say in the case of a three-way – it can feel like a validation of themselves. They can feel like they made the right choice, that this is a person desirable to someone other than just them.
Of course like all forms of open sexual encounters involving pre-existing couples, honesty is paramount.
