In this week’s “weird things that turn men on” a study in Australia showed that men have sex on the brain they want to eat more meat!
The study looked at 1,600 people across Australia, the UK, and the US to investigate “sexual motivation.” Both men and women were shown images with no sexual content and then imagery and videos with sexual content in it and then asked to pick food directly later.
The study found that men who had seen sexual content were more likely to pick meat as a meal. Women on the other hand were as likely to pick meat when they saw sexual imagery as when they didn’t.
The study concludes that basically men favour meat when they’re thinking about sex because of evolutionary and cultural reasons that have made meat a sign of strength, masculinity, and power. Basically makes you a better mate!

In fact, this in part explains bizarre fad diets like the meat diet whose fans say it gets rids of anxiety and makes you gain muscle, whilst most would agree it’s exhausting and lacking in proper nutrients.
The bizarre thing about the survey is that it was carried out for the purposes of marketing, meaning that the researchers concluded that if advertisers or companies were interested in promoting a meat-free diet or sustainability, they’d be better off avoiding using sexual imagery or suggestion, as it will only encourage men to eat meat more!
