In porn like in all things, it’s hard to make rhyme or reason out of people’s predilections and preferences and the popularity of MILF genre in porn is perhaps a case in point!
In 2018 MILF was the third most viewed category according to Pornhub and it supposedly has over 40,000 videos online making it without a doubt one of the world’s favourite genres of porn. And yet our understanding of where this ‘mum I’d like to fuck’ interest comes from is still relatively not understood.
In a book entitled Tell Me What You Want published by the famous sex institute the Kinsey Institute, researcher Justin Lehmiller interviewed around 4,000 men about the porn they watched with 88% of them admitting that they’d had MILF fantasies whilst 42% admitted that they thought about it often.
In another research project carried out by the Journal of Sex Research around 50 MILF videos were studied, with researchers concluding that the difference between MILF videos and other porn videos was the fact that MILF videos often put a woman in a position of power and dominance.
In fact the study pointed out how many MILF videos show the woman in a higher status role whether sexually or socially, often with more money or a better job. So the MILF genre of porn falls into the broader area of BDSM for many people who enjoy viewing it. Men who are into the genre are often attracted to being submissive, sexually humiliated, or ordered around like many people into BDSM do.
What’s more Lehmiller’s book also suggested that there was a small correlation between men with anxious dispositions who worried about sexual rejection, in that if the woman was in control and indicating clearly that she wanted sex, they would be clearly encouraged.
In women on the other hand it was almost opposite. Heterosexual women who were shown to be into MILF porn were also believed to fantasize strongly about being in a position of dominance and ordering someone around in bed.
It’s evident that MILF porn will continue to be popular in erotic and porn but what’s less evident is what exactly drives people towards it, with often contradictory fantasies contributing to our fixation with mums!
