If you’re someone with something of a phobia when it comes to our slithery friends, then perhaps avert your eyes.
Facebook users this week were shocked when a company called Big Country Snake Removal posted a video that somewhat unbelievably described how a standard call-out to a house in Albany, Texas had turned into a major operation when the team discovered not just a few, but 45 rattlesnakes in total.
The owner of the house had called the snake removal service after winds had made his TV cable act up, so he’d gone to check on it in the foundation of the house. When he ducked his head in, he immediately noticed three or four rattlesnakes and beat a quick retreat and phoned the snake removal guys.
But when the team arrived and ventured down into the foundations it became immediately apparent to them that this was not a case of three or four, but in fact an actual snakepit with more than 40 snakes slithering around.
The team documented the removal in a video posted to Facebook and it makes for some pretty hair-raising watch. To make matters worse, the removal team commented under their post that this could’ve happened to anyone and that the house and yard where the snakes were found were clean and well-kept.
“The interesting thing here was they only see a few each year, their yard was very well kept and their house was nice and clean…. My point is, we run into this scenario often, and people don’t think it can happen to them. As I stated in the teaser video, rattlesnakes don’t care how nice your house is or what kind car you drive- they care simply about survival.”
So basically we should be grateful we live in a chilly climate because from the sounds of it, if 45 rattlesnakes want to live in your home that’s the end of it, they will do just that. However, on a slightly less fatalistic note, there is apparently a way of training your dog to keep rattlesnakes away as well as special fencing that can be put up to keep them out. Anti snake fencing – now that’s the stuff of nightmares.
