Staring at the same pot plant, curtains and bedside lamp every time you do the deed can make even something as fun as sex predictable – and one things for certain – predictability and sex are not a good combo.
Luckily no matter where you live, who you live with or your circumstances, there’s a plot of land, sofa or washing machine out there just calling out to be christened… Here are some of our favourite places to get steamy with not a bed in sight…
The Laundry Room
Yes – it sounds odd – but hear us out; the laundry room is actually the perfect place to go on a little sexual adventure. The vibrations and heat combined with the gentle rocking motion make for a very sensual experience. Experiment with different temperature washes and spin speeds until you find your favourite; yes there’s a good few to go through, but you’ll certainly have fun trying them all out…Position-wise, try laying directly on top of the machine or getting him to sit on it and straddle him or wrap your legs around his waist.
Tip: If you and your partner are different heights, try stepping on a stool to make things more even (and comfortable!)
The Sofa
For the less adventurous amongst you who still fancy trying something a little different, the sofa is perfect. Firstly, they’re comfortable and offer back support and a flat surface facilitating the performance of many a position.
Tip: Cushions are your friend! Try placing one behind you to support your back while you straddle him. Then hold hands as you both lean back; this will create an anchoring force which allows for more up and down/forward and back movement.
The Shower
An oldie but a goodie – in our experience shower sex never fails to hit the spot. Warm, wet and super-sexy, the shower is almost better suited to sex than it is to washing! The sound of running water is great for drowning out any moans, groans or sounds of pleasure, making this a great option for people who live with housemates/parents/children. Be sure to use waterproof lube (silicone based) anytime you’re getting playful in the water, though!
Tip: Try getting on your hands and knees or bending over so he can enter you from behind. This works well in the shower because you can support yourself by holding onto your calves if you’re standing and if you’re kneeling then there’s no chance of slipping over!
The Porch
Sex outdoors is a common fantasy for a lot of people, so why not make it a reality? Since getting arrested isn’t the aim here, keep it as local as possible – your front porch is perfect. Getting naked in an outdoor spot will be just the right amount of taboo to send you over the edge – it’s just so wrong, it’s right! Just make sure your neighbours aren’t peering over the garden fence to catch you in the act – no one wants collecting the post every morning to get awkward…/ and no one wants that.
Tip: don’t have a porch? Any garden furniture/shed will have the same thrilling, we-shouldn’t-be-doing-this effect!
The Car
If nothing else, fumbling around in your car will take you back to your college days… There’s something a little bit mischievous about doing it somewhere you’re not supposed to, and the fact that you’re kind of al fresco whilst still shielded from nature is a bonus! Knowing you could get busted any minute by someone walking their dog or a traffic warden is exhilarating – and exhilarating sex = HOT sex. Manoeuvring might be slightly tricky, especially if your S.O is 6ft 4 and hits the gym; we suggest ‘woman on top’ with him sitting in the front seat and you sitting on him to make the most of the little space you have. It may get a little cramped, but being close to each other ups the intimacy, making for sex you won’t forget in a long time.
Tip: Clean up after yourselves. You don’t want your early morning car-share asking questions about that wet stain in the front seat…
