When did it become unacceptable, or should we say ‘less acceptable’ for women to look at men in the way men look at women. As women, we all know men are more visually sexually stimulated than women and seem to always make it obvious they are eyeing up the girl next door. So maybe she has a perky bum from doing her daily squats, or she has glistening eyes that takes your breath away. Whatever it is, women also have a list of attributes they first notice in a man – or should we say ‘on a man’.
So when women think closely about what they desire their perfect man to have, it very quickly becomes clear that what men think we want is very different. So what feature ‘pops’ out for you – could be as literal as you want? Perhaps strong, muscly arms that are noticeably shaped in everything he wears, his deep husky voice, or perhaps going straight for his package of goods.
Psychologists Cindy Meston and David Buss, expose what women really want and the features that make a man appeal to a woman in their book Why Women Have Sex.
So it’s about time, we dug a little deeper and reveal what women want.
Superman chest
All woman can agree there is nothing worse than a man admiring himself in the mirror of the bathroom or gym studio more than deemed ‘normal’. Some surveys have suggested that a broad chest creeps in at the bottom of women’s most likeable features on men. Surprising – we know! Even men were slightly shocked to think what they envisaged to be ranked number one, was bottom of the heap. Not all men are Mr Muscle and if anything, some women are intimidated by the hyper-muscular, buffed guise. All women want is a good huggle (hug and cuddle combined) and no solid chest can get in the way. Granted, men’s chests are an important asset for women to consider – we always like the idea of eyeing up our men running along the beach, like an inverted scene from Baywatch!

V-shape
For decades, and even millenniums, women have been drawn to a V-shaped torso; men with large shoulders and a very thin waist where it dips in at the hips. According to research, the V-shape torso is a biological attraction and an indicator of strength and fitness. Women in the Stone Age who saw a man with this body type would automatically assume he had strong genes to pass onto her children. So with not much more to go on, the V-shape torso is a primitive physical attribute that women crave.

Men’s most prized possession
In the grand scheme of things, it’s almost impossible for women to comment on a man’s package as the minute you get into bed, there’s not a lot you can do. It doesn’t take a genius to realise that no amount of research, surveys of findings will make a man’s most prized possession an attractive body part. Considering it is tucked away for the majority of the day, unlike men, women don’t consider a penis, a make or break situation. There’s no doubt it’s important…but women are not entirely fussed about how it looks. On a whole, women have commented that ‘if it does the job, then what’s there to complain about’.

Perky derrière
There’s no denying a good bum has some serious pulling power and women can’t get enough of a small, but perky bum on a man of her dreams. The cliché phrase, ‘size matters’ can be applied to pretty much any part of the body and the bum is no different. Size varies according to preference, and we all know men love a cute, small booty as much as we do on men. Dr. Kerri Johnson of UCLA, a leading specialist in the psychology of human attraction has commented that there a number of differences in the way men and women walk. ‘One of the biggest is lateral shoulder movements, side-to-side movement. Men do that much more; women in contrast move their hips…whereas men’s walk goes side-to-side and has high levels of shoulder motion’. To be brutally honest, women love nothing more than holding onto something squishy…other than the other obvious body part.

Hair
We all like to have something to run our fingers through. The one thing that seems to be generic on the list of physical properties for men and women is the hair. Who would have thought women would care as much as men, but it seems that women don’t care as much for the type of style but more to the fact they have a head of hair to play with.

Height
For the sake of absolving arguments, one thing we can all agree on is the basic biology that men TEND to be taller than women. Fact – and though distressing as it is for women who are above the height average of 5’4”, most men will be inevitably taller and we are more than happy to embrace it. Women love the feeling of being embraced being able to call upon their man to do the things they cannot do.

Eyes
They say men determine the sex of a baby and that blue eyes are a direct result of the recessive gene. When you think of some of the world’s most beautiful men, the likes of Ryan Reynolds, George Clooney, Chris Pine and Bradley Cooper most certainly pop to mind with their piercing blue eyes; a window into their beautiful souls. So it’s no surprise that one of the first things that comes to mind when designing you perfect man are his eyes; even if they’re not blue.
