A placebo-controlled drug trial involving 220 men is currently underway in the US for a pill that promises to cure premature ejaculation.

The drug, called cligosiban, has gone on a wider trial after an initial study carried out in Tulane University School of Medicine on 88 men found that they laste 3.38 times longer during intercourse after six weeks of taking the drug.

If found to be effective cligosiban could be resolving a problem that affects 1 in 3 men according to the NHS. International medical guidelines tend to define premature ejaculation as regularly ejaculating one minute after entering your partner. The NHS says that it takes a man on average 5.5 minutes to ejaculate during intercourse on average.
