It’s still February and despite the uptick in temperatures and sunny spells it’s still fairly crap let’s be honest and you’re probably still laying low at home in the evenings watching films or doing some half-hearted Marie Kondo inspired spring cleaning. But movie night does not have to be entirely unexciting… Here’s a few suggestions for erotic and sexy movies that will absolutely warm you up and make for anything but a boring night in! What’s more these are critically acclaimed and well worth the watch for more than just titillation.
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Such a great noughties classic, Y Tu Mama Tambien combines the thrill of a road trip movie set in Mexico with the suspense and expectations that comes with the love triangle scenario that’s set up from the very start. Pretty memorable sex scenes as well as a masturbation scene. What’s more it packs a serious emotional punch at the end.
Love
Provocateur Gaspar Noe (Enter The Void) said that with Love he was attempting to capture the “psychosexual reality of what it is to be in love.” The film follows Murphy and Elektra around Paris as the two 20 something year-olds become engaged in an intense love affair where the genuine love and lust that binds them simply cannot triumph over their respective issues. Everything devolves into a toxic catastrophe, but the sex in it is off the charts and what’s more it’s real and originally came out in 3D.
Blue Is The Warmest Colour
You probably remember this film even if perhaps you haven’t seen it, mainly because it made waves at the time and went on to win the Palme d’Or at Cannes and was up for a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. A coming-of-age lesbian love story starring the oh-so-sexy Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchoupolos, there’s some incredibly steamy girl on girl action as well a wonderfully nuanced and an achingly beautiful portrayal of heartbreak.
The Dreamers
First port of call for a threesome film is Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers which launched Eva Green’s career in many ways and was much discussed at the time. She makes for an utterly magnetic and and jaw-droppingly beautiful on-screen presence in this story about love, incest (yep, there’s step-brother stuff in there), and societal upheaval set against the historical backdrop of the 1968 Paris student riots.
Last Tango In Paris
Another Bertolucci offering, Last Tango in Paris is something of a notorious film because it was censored and not properly shown in cinemas until 1997 in some cases despite coming out in 1972. Starring Marlon Brando and Maria Schneider the film has something of a cult status. Paul meets Jeanne as they both view the same apartment and the pair start a steamy anonymous sexual relationship where neither reveals their identity to the other. It contains a fairly notorious scene involving anal and some butter – we’ll say no more.
