For a while it looked like bleached hair was going to be the new trend for men and take over form beards, and whilst this might still happen, it doesn’t look like beards are going anywhere any time soon.

As we know, beards are not at all the mark of a man who neglects himself but au contraire they are high maintenance. They require trimming, styling, moisturising, and even an occasional visit to the barbers.

But a good place to start as any beard expert will tell you is with a good beard balm or beard oil. Because beard minding is not just about the beard but the skin beneath it as well.

So here are 5 of our favourite products for the bearded man:

Murdock Beard Shampoo

One of the original cool London barber shops, Murdock Beard Shampoo, is a top of the range shampoo that has ingredients that help detangle and soften beard hair.

Acqua di Parma Collezione Barbiere Shaving Oil

One of the most iconic Italian perfumers, this is a real classic choice that smells incredible. The beard oil is hydrating and mainly has an incredible scent that lingers for days, which fuses almond oil, Sambucas, Nigra, and pomegranate oil. The oil is key to moisturising the skin below as well.

Beardaholic Balm

Beard balm is fairly crucial in that it allows you to tame unruly beard hair as well as shape your beard without it looking too uber groomed or ridiculously quaffed. One of the keys to this is that it isn’t sticky but is durable which many of these aren’t.

This is one of the most inexpensive beard oils on the market but Bulldog is well known for its fail-safe products. This beard oil contains all the things you want a beard oil to contain! It’s got camelina oil that’s super hydrating, aloe vera to soothe and moisturise, as well as green tea to refresh and soothe. Basically it’s delicious.

The two most common beard complaints are dryness and itchiness and Jack Black’s beard oil combats both of these issues whilst being silicone-free and organic! Plus it’s got Kalahari Melon and Marula oil which smell insane.
