In this day and age, when open relationships have been signalled as growing in popularity and when there is so much talk about openness and honesty as a bedrock for a healthy romantic relationship, it\u2019s surprising that people still have affairs (particularly when among online daters there\u2019s a growing sense of despair about meeting someone!)<\/p>\n

But Ashley Madison, the famous site for people having extra marital affairs without their spouse\u2019s knowledge, surveyed 2,000 of its customers to tell us the latest motivating factors for people who decide to cheat on their partners.<\/p>\n

According to the results sex was the main motivation for cheating fo 87% of men and 65% of women. For women what seemed more important in fact was the feeling of newness of \u201cbutterflies in your stomach\u201d with 43% of them stating that that was the main reason whilst only 23% of men did.<\/p>\n

Curiosity seems to be the main reason married people may consider infidelity, with 41% of women and 39% of men saying they did it to explore new desires.<\/p>\n

Of the users a reported 56% said they still loved their partner and didn\u2019t want to break up their relationship, and in fact according to Ashley Madison, many people cheat in order to save their relationship.<\/p>\n
